There was good news out of G7 summit

Jun 13, 2018 in Activist Publications

SOME people in the media are calling the G7 a train wreck, that it has lost its relevance without the U.S.‘s full participation. Let’s not forget that it may be a group of six plus one, not a group of one plus six. If one member is intent on burning bridges instead of building them, let him stay home on his island.

Great achievements can still be made at these high-level meetings in the spirit of cooperation. Canada, the EU, Germany, Japan, the U.K. and the World Bank made a historic pledge of $3.8 billion towards education for women and girls in crisis and conflict situations – about triple the $1.3 billion the prime minister was seeking. Canada pledged $400 million over three years.

To all the summit naysayers, just remember that 8.5 million women and girls have a much brighter future than a week ago.
