Question period is the most exciting time of day on Parliament Hill. Every day at 2 pm (11 on Fridays), when the House of Commons is in session, MPs representing the government and the opposition parties gather in the House of Commons for 15 minutes of statements and 45 minutes of face-to-face questions and answers.
The number of statements and questions each party has is based on their proportional representation in the House. MPs work very hard to get statements and questions, but “compete” with their colleagues for limited spaces so these can be the most difficult to get your MP to do on an issue.

The Senate also has a Question and Statement period but this usually focuses on questions about work in Senate committees.
