Healthier childhoods through addressing undernutrition
Child and Maternal Health
Campaign Goals
In part, due to RESULTS Canada's efforts to keep child survival at the top of the government's agenda, in Spring 2009 CIDA prioritized "securing the well-being of children and youth" as a priority. This provides a unique opportunity to influence government and ensure increased, sustained investments in the types of cost-effective proven interventions that save lives.
Over the coming year we will build on past efforts in child survival and push for:
- renewed and increased support for the Canadian International Immunizations Initiative, which ended in 2009;
- expansion of the UNICEF executed Catalytic Initiative to Save a Million Lives;
- a financial commitment to sanitation and hygiene promotion, preferably through an investment in the Global Sanitation Fund;
- increased support for the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. Our goal is to truly measure progress in terms of lives saved.
